Just in time for Walt Disney World's 50th Anniversary Celebration, Annual Passes are BACK!
Picture
There are a few changes that will come with these new passes:
  • More Park Reservations: Depending on the pass type, Passholders may now hold up to five Disney Park Pass reservations at a time. "Bonus reservations" will also be added to the calendar periodically. Plus, when Passholders stay at Disney Resort hotels or other select hotels, they will also be eligible to make theme park reservations for each day of their stay in addition to the reservations they can hold!
  • Customize Passes: Passholders can choose different add-on options. (Water Park & Sports, Photopass, etc.) These add-on options will be available for purchase with any passes.
  • New Integrated Calendar: Passholders will be able to quickly see blockout dates for each pass type, view available days and make, modify or cancel a reservation all in one place.
  • Enjoy Passholder Perks: Passes will continue to offer Park Hoppers, standard theme park parking, and discounts on merchandise and dining.

Current Passholders may continue to use their Annual Pass as they do today. When it's time to renew, passholders will be able to renew into one of the new passes at a special renewal price. Beginning September 8, 2021, Silver, Gold, Platinum and Platinum Plus Annual Passholders will also be able to hold more reservations at a time.

Pricing for the new Passes are below.

New dining experiences are coming to Disney’s Contemporary Resort for “The World’s Most Magical Celebration!”
Picture
Replacing The Wave at Disney's Contemporary Resort, Steakhouse 71 will be a new casual-themed dining concept that gets its name from the resort’s opening year and will be open in time for the celebration.

Upstairs at California Grill, a new dining experience will also be available later this year, featuring a limited-time menu with items inspired by the restaurant’s history.

While these experiences are not yet available for reservations, I will be sharing more information as it becomes available! You can read more about Disney's Contemporary Resort here and learn more about the new Incredible rooms here!

FastPass+ is out...Disney Genie is In!

8/18/2021

Breaking News! Disney Genie is coming this Fall!

Replacing FastPass, FastPass+, and MaxPass, Disney Genie is a complimentary new digital service at Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort.
Picture
It will include tips that can help you reduce time in lines, discover magic around every corner, and take the guesswork out of “what’s next.”

For even more convenience and flexibility, there are 2 other paid options for enjoying the parks through a queue called the Lightning Lane entrance. (This will save time in line!)

  •  Disney Genie+ will cost $15 per ticket per day at Walt Disney World and $20 per ticket per day at Disneyland Resort. It will let you choose the next available time to arrive at select attractions using Lightning Lane. You can make one selection at a time throughout the day. (Think of this as an evolution of the old Disneyland MaxPass!)
  • Individual attraction selections will allow you to schedule a time to arrive at up to 2 highly demanded attractions each day using the Lightning Lane entrance. (Pricing for this will vary by date, time, and park.)

Lightning Lane selections will be made on the same day of your visit and can be used across multiple theme parks, great for those who love the Park Hopper option.

Attractions will continue to offer a traditional standby queue (or virtual queue at certain attractions) to maximize flexibility. Guests can choose from all the new options, a mix of them, or none at all!

Stay tuned for more information!

Splish Splash! What to Do When It Rains at Disney

8/9/2021

I know, I know. You planned your trip to Walt Disney World and that forecast is calling for rain every day. Never fear! I'm sharing my pro tips for how to handle the inevitable rain during your trip.

Plus, a rainy day at Walt Disney World is STILL better than a sunny day anywhere else, right?
Picture
The Forecast
First things first. It rains almost every single day in Florida. This is typically a short afternoon storm followed by beautiful weather. However, there are days where it rains all day long, particularly if there's a nearby tropical storm or hurricane. Make sure that you're prepared with a reliable weather forecast and a perfectly packed park bag.

Grab my park bag packing checklist below!

Get Indoors
Of course, as soon as raindrops start falling, thousands of people are going to run to the nearest indoor spot. (Usually they'll head towards shops or quick-service dining spots.) However, if you've got a great minute-by-minute weather forecast, you can beat the rainy rush to a much better spot. Below are a few family-friendly indoor attractions that help kill the time while you wait out the rain.
  • Magic Kingdom - Carousel of Progress, Enchanted Tiki Room, Hall of Presidents, Country Bear Jamboree
  • EPCOT - The Seas with Nemo & Friends, Spaceship Earth, Journey into Imagination with Figment, The Land Pavilion (Home to Soarin', Living with the Land, AND Sunshine Seasons quick-service location!)
  • Hollywood Studios - MuppetVision 3D, Disney Jr. Dance Party, Walt Disney Presents
  • Animal Kingdom - It's Tough to Be a Bug, The Animation Experience at Conservation Station, Celebration of the Festival of the Lion King
Picture
There are a lot of great places at EPCOT to hide from clouds like these!
Make a Dining Reservation
This one will take some advance planning. However, since most pop-up storms in Central Florida happen anytime between 1-4 pm, make an advanced dining reservation during this time. This will guarantee that you will be happily indoors during those storms. My clients always get my personalized dining recommendations and tips as part of my concierge services. Contact me to learn how to become a concierge-level client.

Embrace the Rain
Life's all about dancing in the rain, right? Throw on a poncho (or don't!) and enjoy your vacation! If you're lucky, you'll also catch the Rainy Day Cavalcade in Magic Kingdom. This particular cavalcade has actually been in place for years, long before character cavalcades were the norm. It features a very catchy song and some of your favorite characters.

The parks clear out big time during a downpour. If you can wait out a storm, you'll be rewarded with cooler temps and shorter wait times as soon as it ends!
Bonus Tips
  1. Be prepared for certain rides, attractions, and transportation options to pause operations during heavy rain and/or storms. This includes popular rides like 7 Dwarfs Mine Train and transportation like the Skyliner. Plan accordingly.
  2.  I recommend ponchos to my clients, rather than umbrellas. Umbrellas are bulky to carry and are especially difficult if you're dashing from one place to another. I also recommend getting a rain cover for any strollers you're traveling with.

All About People Eaters

7/28/2021

I shared about People Eaters as a "Travel Tip Tuesday" across social media yesterday, but  I got tons of questions and "aha" moments in my DMs, so I've decided to let this post live in blog infamy!
Picture
You’ve probably seen photos or videos of long lines at Disney parks. (And some of those lines look loooooooong, I know!) Many people want to blame those lines on the fact that FastPasses won't return. Really, though, there aren’t enough “People Eaters” around!

So what is a People Eater? (No, I don't mean the one-eyed, one-horned flying kind!) People Eaters are shows, meet & greets, offerings, etc. that would typically attract thousands of people daily. Since most People Eaters aren’t currently open, those crowds are all in ride queues.

Don’t let the lines scare you, though! Disney Cast Members are working hard to keep the lines running smoothly. During my last several trips, our wait times were actually shorter than what was listed most of the time.

See what I packed for a June 2021 trip here.

My clients all receive park touring tips to help beat the crowds and tour like a pro! I offer planning services for both clients who book through me, as well as clients who book on their own.

Click here to become a concierge client and get all of my tips, tricks, hacks, and money-savers on your next Disney vacation.

Beginning August 2nd, Pizzafari at Animal Kingdom will reopen. This quick-service location offers pizza (of course!) but you'll also find chicken parm sandwich, a green and grains salad, and specialty cupcakes and beverages!

Beginning August 5th, Columbia Harbour House at Magic Kingdom will reopen again! Seafood favorites are back, including the Lobster Roll and Trio Platter, as well as chicken strips, hushpuppies, the Lighthouse Sandwich (my personal favorite!!!!), and the Harbour Salad.

Looking for a sit-down dining experience? 2 popular locations are also reopening!

Yachtsman Steakhouse, at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, reopens August 5, 2021, with booking available July 29th. In addition to their signature steaks and chops, the Chilled Admiral’s Tower for Two is back as well as the creamy Lobster Bisque and the Yachtsman’s Chocolate Cake for Two.
