Your enchanting evening begins 50 minutes before the fireworks at the Transportation and Ticket Center, where you’ll be greeted with a refreshing beverage before setting sail.
Onboard, you'll enjoy bite-size signature treats (you can even Build Your Own Mousse!) and specialty drinks—either with or without alcohol. There's even an ultraviolet scavenger hunt for kids! Once it's time for fireworks over the Castle, you can grab a spot along the ferryboat’s railing and slip on your “Mickey Vision” glasses. (They'll transform your viewing!) Admission is $99 for adults and $69 for children ages 3-9. (Prices include tax and gratuity.) Advance reservations are highly recommended! Contact me for more information or to book your Ferrytale Fireworks Dessert Cruise! New dining experiences are coming to Disney’s Contemporary Resort for “The World’s Most Magical Celebration!” Replacing The Wave at Disney's Contemporary Resort, Steakhouse 71 will be a new casual-themed dining concept that gets its name from the resort’s opening year and will be open in time for the celebration.
Upstairs at California Grill, a new dining experience will also be available later this year, featuring a limited-time menu with items inspired by the restaurant’s history. While these experiences are not yet available for reservations, I will be sharing more information as it becomes available! You can read more about Disney's Contemporary Resort here and learn more about the new Incredible rooms here!
As I previously shared, “Disney Enchantment,” an all-new nighttime spectacular, will debut in Magic Kingdom Park on Oct. 1. We have recently learned more details about this remarkable new show.
This all-new spectacular inspires everyone to believe in magic, with captivating Disney music, enhanced lighting, immersive projection effects that extend for the first time down Main Street, U.S.A., and an emotional original song, entitled “You Are the Magic,” by seven-time GRAMMY-winner Philip Lawrence. And throughout the show, stunning fireworks fill the sky, providing a great experience for guests throughout the park and neighboring resort hotels.
"Since opening day in 1971, dazzling fireworks shows have provided that perfect exclamation point at the end of a fantastic day at Magic Kingdom Park,” said Mark Renfrow, Show Director, Disney Live Entertainment. “From ‘Fantasy in the Sky’ and ‘Wishes’ to holiday spectaculars and ‘Happily Ever After,’ each new show has raised the bar, and the best is yet to come! I can’t wait for everyone to see what we’re creating with ‘Disney Enchantment."
“Disney Enchantment” features characters, moments, and music from dozens of Disney and Pixar animated films. We'll discover a whimsical world inspired by the style of legendary Disney artist Mary Blair. The show will be filled with characters from classic stories to contemporary tales. Everything builds to a climactic moment, as Tinker Bell takes flight, spreading shimmering gold pixie dust and empowering us all to believe in ourselves and the magic all around us. (I'm so happy Tink will be flying in this show, too! Cue the tears and goosebumps!) The show takes us beyond the ordinary to a land of magic, where we’re swept up in a world of wonder filled with friendship, love and fun. I can't wait to see this debut on October 1st! Stay tuned here for more details as they're announced! Breaking News! Disney Genie is coming this Fall! Replacing FastPass, FastPass+, and MaxPass, Disney Genie is a complimentary new digital service at Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort. It will include tips that can help you reduce time in lines, discover magic around every corner, and take the guesswork out of “what’s next.”
For even more convenience and flexibility, there are 2 other paid options for enjoying the parks through a queue called the Lightning Lane entrance. (This will save time in line!)
Lightning Lane selections will be made on the same day of your visit and can be used across multiple theme parks, great for those who love the Park Hopper option. Attractions will continue to offer a traditional standby queue (or virtual queue at certain attractions) to maximize flexibility. Guests can choose from all the new options, a mix of them, or none at all! Stay tuned for more information!
Disney has announced another update to their face covering policy!
Beginning tomorrow, August 19, face coverings will be optional for guests in outdoor attractions, outdoor queues, and outdoor theaters at Walt Disney World. Face coverings were previously required on outdoor attractions. Outdoor theaters recently reopened. Face coverings remain required for all guests 2+ while indoors and on indoor Disney transportation, regardless of vaccination status. You can read Disney's official statement below.
"Since May, face coverings have been optional for Guests in outdoor common areas, and beginning Thursday, August 19, face coverings will also be optional for Guests in outdoor attractions, outdoor queues and outdoor theaters at Walt Disney World Resort. As a reminder, face coverings remain required for all Guests (ages 2 and up) while indoors and in Disney buses, monorail and Disney Skyliner, regardless of vaccination status."
As always, I will keep you updated with any additional information. One of my all-time favorite restaurants, Boma - Flavors of Africa is reopening Friday, August 20th. Reservations will be available August 18th. If that wasn't exciting enough...it's been announced that it will reopen as a BUFFET! This is a huge deal because this is the first time Disney's reopened a buffet since March 2020! Boma is unique because it not only offers typical breakfast and dinner fare, but also has completely unique African dishes.
Breakfast offerings include creamy pap, turkey bobotie, pancakes, waffles, deviled eggs with salmon, and delicious freshly baked items from the Boma bakery. At dinner, the rotisserie area will offer pork ribs, salmon, African-spiced strip loin, Durban rotisserie chicken, and lamb bobotie. The kid’s cooking pod will have pasta and meatballs, mac n’ cheese, and chicken bites. The rotating selection of soups, stews, and chowders are back, as well as tasty salads like berbere chickpea salad and North African cauliflower salad. For dessert, enjoy delicious Zebra Domes (YUM!!!!!!!) and a variety of other sweet treats. Boma is located at Animal Kingdom Lodge. I know, I know. You planned your trip to Walt Disney World and that forecast is calling for rain every day. Never fear! I'm sharing my pro tips for how to handle the inevitable rain during your trip.
Plus, a rainy day at Walt Disney World is STILL better than a sunny day anywhere else, right?
The Forecast
First things first. It rains almost every single day in Florida. This is typically a short afternoon storm followed by beautiful weather. However, there are days where it rains all day long, particularly if there's a nearby tropical storm or hurricane. Make sure that you're prepared with a reliable weather forecast and a perfectly packed park bag. Grab my park bag packing checklist below! Get Indoors
Of course, as soon as raindrops start falling, thousands of people are going to run to the nearest indoor spot. (Usually they'll head towards shops or quick-service dining spots.) However, if you've got a great minute-by-minute weather forecast, you can beat the rainy rush to a much better spot. Below are a few family-friendly indoor attractions that help kill the time while you wait out the rain.
Make a Dining Reservation
This one will take some advance planning. However, since most pop-up storms in Central Florida happen anytime between 1-4 pm, make an advanced dining reservation during this time. This will guarantee that you will be happily indoors during those storms. My clients always get my personalized dining recommendations and tips as part of my concierge services. Contact me to learn how to become a concierge-level client. Embrace the Rain Life's all about dancing in the rain, right? Throw on a poncho (or don't!) and enjoy your vacation! If you're lucky, you'll also catch the Rainy Day Cavalcade in Magic Kingdom. This particular cavalcade has actually been in place for years, long before character cavalcades were the norm. It features a very catchy song and some of your favorite characters. The parks clear out big time during a downpour. If you can wait out a storm, you'll be rewarded with cooler temps and shorter wait times as soon as it ends!
