This social distancing has been hard on all of us! Canceled or postponed travel across the country has all of us dreaming of the time we can vacation again. However, even with all of the (very necessary!) closures, there are still ways to be a tourist in your own city! While we can't experience the following businesses in the same capacity as we normally would, there are still many ways that those of you in central Ohio can experience a few of my favorite foodie small businesses! Meza Wine Shop If I had to pick one place in Central Ohio to spend my days, it would be Meza Wine Shop in Uptown Westerville. While they, of course, aren't open to the public at the moment, Meza is currently delivering 6 packs of wine! Order and pay directly on their website, and receive your 6 pack of choice right to your doorstep! Options include packs of reds, whites, bubbles, rose`s, sweet wines, and more! (You can also order cases!) Hot Chicken Takeover Hot Chicken Takeover is still available at 2 of their locations. Easton is curbside pickup only, while the Clintonville location still offers curbside, in addition to their pick-up window. Hot Chicken Takeover provides jobs to men and women who deserve a fair chance at work who otherwise wouldn't have that opportunity. (Be it from previous incarceration, homelessness, etc.) Remember to order online, and DEFINITELY remember to get double-mac as your side! EDIT: As of 3 p.m., all HCT locations will be closing their doors for the near future amid the COVID-19 crisis. You can still support them and their incredible mission by purchasing gift cards on their website. Gift cards are currently discounted to reward your support. You can also donate tips for their staff to provide stability for their team members. The Rail While there are several locations across Ohio, we're big fans of the Dublin location. (It's also the only Central Ohio location!) Those burgers are to die for! They are open for curbside pickup, and can also bring bottled wine, beer, and growlers out to you, too! Just mention that you'd like to add those to your order when you call! Katalina's Two words: PANCAKE BALLS. You can order Katalina's from both locations for curbside pickup. We did this for Sunday brunch this past weekend, and it was heavenly. There is no better brunch food in Columbus! Hoyo's Kitchen Hoyo's Kitchen is the best food in North Market. There, I said it! Hoyo means "mother" in Somali. Haven't tried Somali cuisine quite yet? You're definitely missing out! The bowls are fresh, flavorful, and filling. Don't forget to add a sambusa and a Somali chai tea to your order. (Legitimately the best chai I've ever had.) While they normally operate two locations, Hoyo's is currently only available for curbside pickup at North Market. Please remember to shop small and shop local, especially right now! Did I leave out any of your favorites? Tell me in the comments!
