You ate WHAT?!
Today's Travel Tip Tuesday and Tasty Tuesday are one in the same. Let's talk about FOOD! One of the best things that you can do when you're traveling is eat! Yes,, that's right, your travel agent is telling you to eat as much as you can when you travel!
Of course, that doesn't NECESSARILY mean everything and everything, but immerse yourself in the local culture! You can take all of the #foodie snaps you want for Instagram (you know that I do!) but really EXPERIENCE that food with as many senses as possible! Pictures are great, but you'll also want to remember the entire sensory journey!
If you know me, you know that I'm a sushi fiend, but I wasn't always a big seafood lover!
For example, I used to avoid shrimp like the plague, but a trip to the Gulf of Mexico a few years ago made me brave enough to try some fresh shrimp in a Shrimp Etouffee. I LOVED it! Would I have tried this normally? Probably not! But I got caught up in the culture of the area, and holy moly, was it good!
My first poke experience was at Haleiwa Joe's on Oahu. I was told before I left that I should try some tuna poke on my trip. I was nervous to try it, but I'm so glad that I did! It was, no exaggeration, the best tuna I've ever had.
The best way to try new foods is on a cruise! Where else can you try escargots, fresh gazpacho, prime rib, and cherries jubilee in the SAME meal? On a cruise, of course! Didn't care for your salad? Try another one! Want another steak? Two desserts? On a cruise, it's not only allowed, but encouraged AND included!
I hope this has encouraged you to try something new, whether it's at your local diner or across the world! What's the craziest thing that YOU'VE tried?
