On my most recent visit to Walt Disney World, I was able to stay at the Contemporary Resort for the first time! It was fantastic! I was able to tour a room and some of the resort on my AEP with Fairy Tale Concierge in January, and I just knew that this needed to be my next resort! Prior to my visit in January, I'd been to the Contemporary for reservations at Chef Mickey's and California Grill. (Both so different from each other but both EXCELLENT!) I'll break down each of the elements that I loved about my stay.
Location, Location, Location
How much better could the location of the Contemporary Resort be?? Not only is it a stop on the Magic Kingdom monorail loop, but we were able to go through security before entering the monorail at our resort, saving us TONS of time once we arrived to the Magic Kingdom. (Those security lines at the park are no joke!)
In addition to the monorail, we also enjoyed the option to walk to and from the Magic Kingdom from our resort. We were truly right in the middle of the magic!
The Contemporary Resort also has boat access to Fort Wilderness and Wilderness Lodge. We loved this, especially on an afternoon visit to Wilderness Lodge! Of course, like all Walt Disney World resort hotels, we were able to use buses and the Minnie vans to travel anywhere else on Walt Disney World property.
Room with a View
We stayed in the Garden Wing in a Garden View room. We stayed in Room 6108, which was a corner room. We were able to watch the Electrical Water Pageant right from our patio! We absolutely loved it! It was also a bit quieter than the hustle and bustle of the main tower, which was a nice, quiet change!
As I mentioned before, we had previously dined at California Grill and Chef Mickey's. While we LOVE California Grill, we didn't visit during this trip. We did dine at Chef Mickey's, because no trip is complete without some character visits and Mickey waffles! We also had the opportunity to dine twice at The Wave of Contemporary Flavors. We stopped in once for their breakfast buffet (if you haven't tried the sweet potato pancakes, you haven't lived!) and once for lunch. While I was a huge fan of the breakfast food, we had the most wonderful waiter during our lunch visit. His name was Tim, and he was so knowledgeable about all things WDW! We also loved the convenience of the Contempo Cafe (where we were able to enjoy our quick-service meals, as well as refill our Rapid Refillable drink mugs), which was just a short walk from our room.
There were so many extra little touches that made our stay wonderful. The Olympiad Fitness Center at the resort was a fantastic exercise facility that had all of the cardio machines, weight machines and free weights I needed to stay in shape during my trip. (Not to mention convenient extras, like chilled towels!) We loved lounging by the pool with savory snacks and cool drinks from the Sand Bar.
Would I recommend staying at the Contemporary Resort? ABSOLUTELY! I can't wait to get back there again!
